This week, we learnt all about the Internet of Things. As the very simple explanation states above, it is essentially any device or thing that can connect to the internet. Computer, Tv, Phone, Apple Watch, Laptop or even now Google Home.
However, in the 21st Century, as technology is getting smarter and humans are getting dumber, we now have technology where we do not even have to touch to be able to access the internet. Who would’ve ever thought we would be here? It’s probably bad to say but I am glad we are. Do you know how handy Siri is?
I can almost guarantee you that 70% of my texts are sent by Siri … I am one of those people I know. It is just so convenient. Have a random question? Ask Siri. Want to send a text but not move? Ask Siri. She does it all. My remediation this week is taking a massive dig at myself. I am someone who is a regular user of Siri because I can’t be bothered to pick up my phone to use it but I am also at the gym 5 – 6 days out of the week.
The latest thing however, are Smart Homes. These are homes where every device is essentially connected to the internet. You can literally google something off your fridge … that’s so wild. You can connect everything in your Smart Home together and you can play music through your whole house, see who is at your front door and so much more.
Really makes me wonder about who can access all that data and find out what your household is doing.
Be You, R.

You are so right about Siri Ruby! I use it for everything whether it be texts, reminders or searching for something on the internet. It’s so practical but Siri also scares me too, the fact its always listening is a tad eery. I studied a reading this week that I think would really resonate with your work

This is such a good blog post! You write really well. Can definitely relate to the Siri example. I almost feel like technology is now making so many things easier for us that it allows more time for us to do other things like exercising! In my blog post I used relevant examples in my life as well, although I went further into the idea of devices being interconnected with each other. Keep up the great work đŸ™‚

Great blog, I really like how you take example of siri as an example from the internet of things.Nowadays as technology is getting smarter and smarter, I am very curious about the future for us if techonology can do everything for human. Is it a good/bad thing for us if AI is getting excessively advanced in the future ? I think it is a worth watching quesition for everyone.

Amazing blog post this week! I would honestly be lost with out Siri, she literally helps out so much, I use siri with everything, sending my text messages and my phone calls!! I completely agree with your statement that the 21st century is creating more advanced technologies that make humans seem ‘dumb’! Well done! x

Great work!! You are absolutely right about Siri. I also use it everyday because I’m too lazy to text or press to call or set an alarm :)) And I also agree with the point that the advance technologies are developed and make humans ‘dumbs’.
